Community Music Center

The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music aims to transform lives and build community through the expressive, educational and therapeutic powers of music.

Community Music School

More than 800 students partake in CMS’s robust curriculum offerings that include private lessons, group classes, ensembles and workshops. Our students represent a wide array of backgrounds and abilities, from budding musicians to virtuosos. Students are challenged and inspired by one another and by our world-class educators, making for a dynamic and interconnected music community.

Suzuki Program

The Suzuki Program builds on the principle that if surrounded by a nurturing environment, all children can master music just as they learn their home language. Suzuki is an annual program which requires a full-year commitment. Children ages 3-5 and up are eligible to participate.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy is an evidence-based clinical discipline where music is used to effect positive change and foster creative expression in children and adults. In addition to achieving clinical goals and improving social functioning of those with different abilities, Music Therapy provides people with opportunities to expand their lives and explore issues through creative expression.

Music Partners

Music Partners was created in 1988 in response to a critical need in the community-the rising number of New York City public schools offering no music instruction. It now serves 4,500 students off-site at 24 schools, 8 youth centers, and 3 senior centers in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens, making this the largest off-site music program of any community school in New York City.

Community Music Center

In partnership with Chestnut Commons and the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, this location is the inaugural site of our Community Music Center Initiative which offers top-quality music education programming at locations convenient and accessible to families across New York City. Chestnut Commons is a new mixed-use building serving residents of Cypress Hills and East New York.
