Featuring “Fern Hill” (Music by John Corigliano & Poem by Dylan Thomas) & Six Contemporary Works Inspired by Nature & Hope
Now in its 16th season, this dynamic 40+ member choir performs a rich variety of musical styles, both a cappella and with a variety of accompaniment. Conducted by Dr. Nick Nicassio, this ensemble meets on Monday evenings and performs two to three concerts per season for the community. Members develop their vocal technique and musicianship through exciting and vibrant repertoire from the past and present. Singers build essential skills such as singing harmony, sight-singing and expanding vocal range.

From October to May, 2021, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will be hosting four programs presented by PhiloSonia. PhiloSonia is an innovative chamber music series designed to create a personal connection between audience members and classical music. ReCONNECT I: Opening Night Gala will feature guest ensemble Carr-Petrova Duo, with Molly Carr on viola and Anna Petrova on piano. Shape Shifting: CMTE Virtual Guitar Workshop

Music therapists are invited to this virtual CMTE workshop presented by licensed creative arts therapist and certified Nordoff-Robbins music therapist David Herman (MA, LCAT, NRMT). Participants will be guided through one-finger, two-finger, and three-finger improvisation exercises and will be led as a group in modal playing using the ‘Shape Shifting’ technique.

Connection Works, a leader in artist-run organizations, presents the next concert of the critically acclaimed music series Wide Open Works, now in its 15th season.
Neal Kirkwood’s 16-piece ensemble, featuring New York’s crème de la crème of jazz musicians, was formed in 2012. The ensemble’s repertoire centers around Kirkwood’s vast catalog of compositions, with forays into the music of Gil Evans, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Kirkwood’s compositions draw from Duke Ellington’s melodic, harmonically rich music. Other influences include Gil Evans, Igor Stravinsky, and Bela Bartok. Music critic Tim Page describes Kirkwood’s music as “simultaneously modernist and immediately appealing: lyrical, gracious and rhapsodic in character.”
The cost of admission is $20. Tickets will be sold at the door.
