BKCM’s Community Music School offers private lessons, group classes, ensembles and programs. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, our teachers are flexible, dynamic, encouraging and passionate about teaching. Our faculty have the skill and expertise to teach a myriad of styles and genres.
Join us to Sample our Private Lessons and Ensemble Programs! Sample a 5 minutes free lesson on any instrument including voice! Enjoy Performances by our Jazz, Bluegrass, Klezmer, Voice and Chamber Faculty, and join us for an Early Childhood Music Experience for ages 6 months to 5 years old.
All are welcome to this free event. Tickets are not required to attend. Please RSVP to show your interest and receive the most up-to-date information about the event.

Connection Works, a leader in artist-run organizations, presents the critically acclaimed music series Wide Open Works, now in it’s 15th season. WORKS is the driving force behind the vibrant nonprofit organization Connection Works. This group has exploited its unique instrumentation of flute, piano and drums to forge a distinct and powerful musical voice, putting the “focus on the dynamic writing and deep simpatico of the trio itself” (The Village Voice). WORKS features Michel Gentile on flute, Daniel Kelly on piano, and Rob Garcia on drums.
Tickets will be sold at the door. Admission will cost $15.
This event will have an in-person audience and will be live-streamed.

Josh Sinton’s Predicate Performs ‘4 freedoms’ for Creative Quartet

Josh Sinton’s “4 freedoms” is a meditation on and exploration of the models of democracy and compassionate anarchy manifested in the musics of Duke Ellington, Anthony Braxton, Andrew Hill, Julius Hemphill and Henry Threadgill. All of these African-American artists created personal and startling musical counterpoint and in doing so, imagined a world where everyone’s unique voice can be sounded together in a unique harmony. Sinton’s piece is an expression of his respect, admiration and love for the work of these great artists.
The performance will feature composer Josh Sinton on woodwinds, Jonathan Finlayson on trumpet, Christopher Hoffman on cello and Tom Rainey on drums.

PhiloSonia – ReCONNECT I: Opening Night Gala

From October to May, 2021, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will be hosting four programs presented by PhiloSonia. PhiloSonia is an innovative chamber music series designed to create a personal connection between audience members and classical music. ReCONNECT I: Opening Night Gala will feature guest ensemble Carr-Petrova Duo, with Molly Carr on viola and Anna Petrova on piano. The performance will feature works by Florence Price, Clara Schumann, Michelle Ross, Henrique Eisenmann, JP Jofre and Amy Beach. For the full program, click here.
