Holi Concert & Celebration!
$6.00
Sunday, March 26, 2023 – 3pm (Long Meadow, near Grand Army Plaza)
Join Mixed Masala and BKCM in celebrating Holi at this music-filled outdoor event!
The celebration begins at 3pm with live music performed by Neel Murgai and Tripp Dudley at our designated picnicking area in Long Meadow, near Grand Army Plaza. Later on, the music will change its tune and we’ll invite everyone to join in the traditional color throwing celebration with colored powder.
Attending this family event is free to the public and does not require a ticket. However, if you would like to participate in the color throwing, please purchase one ticket per participant to secure the colored powder order(s). Orders will close at midnight on Tuesday March 21st.
We hope you’ll be able to join us in celebrating Holi!
At this time, we are no longer selling colored powder in advance. There will be a very limited amount of powder packets available to be purchased at the event using Venmo.

Ticket Info
Attending the 3pm concert is free to the public and does not require a ticket. We suggest bringing your own snacks and blankets to enjoy picnicking with the music, weather permitting.
If you would like to participate in color throwing, a ticket will need to be purchased to ensure colored powder packets for your group. Please purchase one ticket per participant to guarantee enough powder for each person. Specific color choices are not guaranteed.
Please note this event will take place outside and might get a bit messy! If you choose to participate in the color throwing party, wear clothing that can be permanently colored/stained. You may even want to wear white to fully embrace the rainbow of colors that will be flying through the air!
Neel Murgai (sitar, effects) and Tripp Dudley (drums) perform Indian classical music, original raga inspired compositions, and classics from Ravi Shankar to the Beatles and more. Neel’s sitar and effects with Tripp’s multi-layered percussion enable sounds spanning the traditional to psychedelic raga rock.
Mixed Masala is a Brooklyn based group for families with connections to South Asia.* While we are all very different, we have a lot in common. Some of us have one South Asian partner (“Mixed”), some have two South Asian partners (“Masala”), and others are connected to the South Asian community through their children.
This group is about exploring and promoting our South Asian cultures and traditions within our contemporary multicultural NYC context. We aim to help our children understand and appreciate our rich cultural heritage. This is a welcoming community space where members can share questions and recommendations, information about events, and other things of interest to families and children. We host a few cultural activities annually, and we encourage our members to propose and lead events.
*Mixed Masala uses the UN definition of South Asia, which includes: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
