West African Drumming Workshop with Amos Kwaku Gabia (Professional Development)


Saturday, May 7, 2022 – 5:30 pm

Join Amos Kwaku Gabia for a West African drumming professional development workshop. This workshop costs $25 and $10 for undergraduates and continuing education students. The event will take place at the BKCM Concert Hall from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Participants will also have the opportunity to implement their new skills with Amos and friends at a performance directly following the workshop.

  • Everyone must show a Vaccination Card or Excelsior Pass to attend. (Please note, this workshop is for adults-only.)
  • Mask wearing will be required for all audience members throughout the concert.

The Artist:

Amos Kwaku Gabia, a native of Ghana, spent this past summer back in his homeland working with students and educators while learning from the masters. This was a very special trip for him and he’s looking forward to sharing his experiences with you.

Amos plays and teaches djembe, dun dun, and other instruments from West Africa, and has performed with the Salaka Dance Ensemble, African Beat, Telema Ensemble, Drum Cafe, Wasa Pan Africa Orchestra, Riclis Multicultural Entertainment, Akwaba Ensemble.
