The People’s Theatre Project Presents Doña Mañana

Brooklyn Conservatory of Music is excited to partner again with People’s Theater Project who have performed at our World Refugee Day event for the past two years.

The year is 3050. A group of immigrants have sparked revolution in the Nation, a dystopia where assimilation was forced. Hearing the collective voice of the people, Doña Mañana—one of the revolutionaries and now the first female, Afro-Latina president—and her team set out on a quest to dismantle the system and bring full liberation to the people.

Trailblazers: A Kids Concert Celebrating Women in Classical Music
Saturday, March 26, 2022 – 5:00pm
Join us for our upcoming family concert featuring works by female classical composers! Our fantastic Suzuki strings and piano students will present pieces by a variety of women composers. Returning emcee Annie Lee Moffett will introduce our performers and lead a discussion on classical music, exploring what defines the genre and how female composers have played a role. This concert is for music-lovers of all ages, but is especially geared towards kids age 8 and older.
The event will celebrate the contributions of composers Florence Price, Teresa Carreño, Makiko Kinoshita, Cécile Chaminade and more.

Trailblazers: BKCM Celebrates Women’s History Month

Join BKCM for our upcoming family concert featuring works by women composers! Students from our Suzuki Program and Community Music School will present pieces written by a variety of women composers ranging in style from contemporary pop to classical. Hosted by BKCM Faculty Member and vocalist Alexis Hightower, this concert is for music-lovers of all ages, but is especially geared towards kids age 8 and older.

Turning Five: Kindergarten and Special Education — Your Child’s Options and Rights in 2023

FREE Information Session: If your preschool-aged child is currently receiving special education services or therapy, advocating for an appropriate kindergarten program is critical. For parents of children born in 2018, get a head start on the Turning Five process with Sarah Birnbaum, of New York Special Needs Support, and attorney Greg Cangiano of Skyer Law (filling in for Abbie Smith). Greg and Sarah will be joined by Dr. Laura Tagliareni and Dr. David Salsberg, neuropsychologists who have a practice together called PALS (Pediatric Assessment Learning and Support).Attendees, please register here.
