Suzuki Teen Retreat 2019

This year’s workshop will focus on Presence in Performance, allowing students to explore ways to heighten their connection with fellow musicians and audiences alike! Daniel Pettrow, who works with teens at the Heifetz Institute, will lead students through a variety of games that develop self-awareness and reveal strategies for growth as a performer and collaborator!

The Angel at Philadelphia: William Still
Friday, February 18, 2022 – 8pm
“The Angel at Philadelphia: William Still” is a musical interpretation of the 2021 book entitled “William Still” by William C. Kashatus. Known as the “Father of the Underground Railroad,” William Still was a free Black abolitionist who helped hundreds of enslaved people escape from slavery. The evening will feature new music written by CMS faculty member Lafayette Harris, Jr. and feature a six-piece ensemble including a vocalist.
Known as a “go-to” pianist by many musicians and bandleaders, Lafayette Harris, Jr. currently performs and records with Houston Person, Archie Shepp and with his own bands. He’s toured with late great music pioneer Max Roach, performed with the Duke Ellington Legacy Orchestra, and has recorded and toured with late four-time Grammy nominee Ms. Ernestine Anderson.

The BCCO presents Music from the Movies! (By the J. J. Byrne Playground in Washington Park, Park Slope)

This event was rescheduled from Sunday, October 2.
The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra and Music Director Dorothy Savitch present Music from the Movies! with special guest soprano Christine Cornell.
This event is free and open to the community. It will take place by the J. J. Byrne Playground in Washington Park, Park Slope. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.
The program will feature music from Encanto, West Side Story, The Magnificent 7, Die Hard, Meet Me in St. Louis, The Wizard of Oz and more!
