Peter and the Wolf: Lost in the Brooklyn Museum

Saturday November 19, 2016 @ 1:00 pm

$10 – $20

The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra directed by Dorothy Savitch returns to the Brooklyn Museum for its annual family concert with Prokofiev’s classic “Peter and the Wolf.” Set within the galleries of the Brooklyn Museum, this unique interpretation tells the story of a young boy, Peter, who is taking an art class at the Brooklyn Museum.   Unhappy with his work and feeling frustrated, Peter wanders through the museum.  He meets a wizardly looking old artist who gives Peter a paintbrush to try out.  Is it magic?  Peter’s drawing of a wolf comes to life and bounds through the museum!  The wolf leaps into a painting and Peter jumps after it!   Special guest actor, musician and clown Andy Sapora will narrate.  Images from the museum’s great collection will accompany the entire concert in a video created by Natasha Kermani.

In addition to this performance, there will be a performance Saturday, November 19 at 3:30pm.

Andy SaporaAndy Sapora performs regularly as one of The Flying Karamazov Brothers and is a clown and facility supervisor with Big Apple Circus Clown Care Hospital Clown Program. He recently originated an additional, non-singing principal role in The Metropolitan Opera’s 2015 production of Pagliacci. Who are the members of the BCCO? One of us may be your child’s middle school art teacher, another may be your attorney, and another may even be your minister. At your local cafe, one of us may be on stage playing bluegrass, while another one of us serves you your coffee. We’re your neighbors and friends. We’re the BCCO.
