Select Spring Semester Group Classes – Registration Opens December 7, 2022

For Kids:

Sing & Play (ages 6 months to 2.5 years, accompanied by a caregiver)
A fun group class for young music lovers that promotes motor skill development, singing, listening and playing small percussion instruments.

Music Adventures (3-4 years old, accompanied by a caregiver)
Children experience music as a group through stories, movement and songs from different cultures. They are introduced to tuned and non-pitched instruments, sing songs and form kinesthetic connections while learning rhythms, patterns, shapes and textures.

Composers Club (Level 1: ages 8 to 11; Level 2: ages 11 to 14)
This class explores theme, variation, song-form and orchestration while students compose work that will be performed by a professional ensemble.

Groove Lab (ages 10-14)
Students create, collaborate and experiment with rhythm, sampling, loops, beat-making and production.

Songwriting for Kids (ages 9-12)
Working collaboratively to compose songs as well as develop their own material, aspiring young songwriters learn to express themselves and tell their stories with music.

For Teens and Adults:

BKCM Blues Band (teens & adults)
Learn a variety of popular song forms, scales, lyrics and performance styles connected to the blues.

BKCM Klezmer Ensemble (teens & adults)
Strings, winds, brass, percussion and accordion players explore a century’s worth of klezmer music while performing in events across the city, including BKCM’s annual Klezmer Hanukkah Party.

Global Beats (teens & adults)
Play music with others while learning the basics of Afro-Cuban and African drumming traditions.

Intro to Improvisation (teens & adults)
Develop improvisation concepts and strategies by responding to, leading and supporting others in a fun and collaborative group.

Intro to Music Theory for Adults
Learn the fundamentals of music including notation, harmony, melody, rhythm and more while developing a new perspective to your favorite songs.

Intro to Singing for Adults
Build solid vocal technique while developing good habits that keep your voice healthy and strong.

Intro to Songwriting (teens & adults)
Write your own songs and share your process with fellow music lovers.

Music of India (teens & adults)
Discover the traditional music of North and South India as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and more.
