Students are required to have their own instruments for remote private lessons.

Absences, Make Ups, and Lateness for Private Lessons
In the event that a teacher is absent, the Community Music School will provide a highly qualified substitute for your lessons.

Student Absences
There are no refunds / credits for absences.

If a student arrives late, instructors are only obligated to teach until the lesson’s scheduled endpoint.  If 15 minutes of the lesson has passed the teacher is not obligated to stay for the remainder of the time.  If an instructor is late by 5 minutes or more, they will be obligated to make up the lesson at a later date.

Medical Withdrawals
The Brooklyn Conservatory of music offers medical withdrawals with refunds or credit on a case by case basis with a doctor’s note. Basis for withdrawals include injuries or illnesses that genuinely impede a student’s abilities to successfully participate in their musical instruction or instrument learning. To request a medical withdrawal, please complete a withdrawal request form.

Schedule / Teacher / Instrument Change Request
If you are looking to make a change to a different day or time, change the length of your lesson, or switch instructors, please fill out the change / request form and a member of the CMS staff will be in contact within five business days.
