This class will explore the art of beat making, including how to use drum machines, create samples and program beats from scratch. Students will build a sampler in class and also learn how mixing, scratching, samples and drum beats come together for a DJ dance set. In addition to an exploration of modern electronic music techniques and innovators, this class offers perspective on beat making and DJ pioneers. Students are required to bring a working laptop, a USB stick and headphones to each class.

Music Theory & Composition

Our theory, composition and songwriting classes are more than just a supplement to private lessons. Leveled by age and experience, our beginner programs will help students advance in their private lessons while building essential musicianship skills and developing their creativity in a fun, low pressure group setting.
