Project Description
Intro to Singing will help students discover vocal technique, warm-up exercises and guided meditations that bring an awareness to the body in preparation for singing. This class will expand both singing and speaking voices through connection of mind, body and emotion.
This course is intended for adults (18+) wanting to learn about the voice and basics of singing, in a group setting. The following topics will be explored:
- Breath Control and the Anatomy of the Voice
- Vocal Registers: Chest and Head Voice and everything in between
- Pitch, Tone and Singing With Other Voices: Harmonizing and Blending
- The Craft of Song: Expression and Elements of Style
These topics will be learned through a varied range of repertoire (songs) chosen by the instructor. This class performs (as a group) in a recital at the end of each term.

Level I
This course is intended for adults (18+) wanting to learn about the voice and basics of singing, in a group setting. The following topics will be explored:

Level II
This class is designed for adults (18+) who have done a bit of singing, and are looking to take their existing skills to the next level. It is also a great class for those who have taken Level I, and/or people who have perhaps studied voice previously and want to start singing again. In addition to the topics from Level 1, the following topics will also be explored:
- Vocal Anatomy and Vocal Acoustics
- Vocal Range and Voice Parts
- Practice Routines
- Developing a Vocal Repertoire
Just like in Level I of this course, the class will sing as a group. But additionally, Level II students will also participate in studio classes, where students will be given the opportunity to work on solo pieces in a group setting. This class performs (as a group) in a recital at the end of each term.
