Designed for adult students who seek additional support, this class offers supplemental music knowledge in order to focus private lesson attention on performance technique and self expression. Students engage in small composition activities that engage them with musical concepts and provide a window into the mind of a composer. This course is offered at a reduced rate to BKCM private lesson students but is open to any adult music student.

Fall Semester (15 weeks)
Students review note identification, ear training and rhythmic diction. Students explore chords, scales, harmony and melody as well as key signatures and time signatures.

Spring Semester (15 weeks)
Students build on their basic knowledge and go deeper into the mechanics of how the western scale is constructed, the circle of fifths, key centers, form and analysis of scores.
