Summer Strings and Piano Workshop (July 22-26)

Term: July 22 – July 26, 2019
Schedule: 9am – 4pm (drop off 8:30 AM)
Price: $595 per student
This five-day drop-off workshop, open to intermediate/experienced violin, viola, cello, guitar and piano students, will focus on strengthening technique during daily semi-private master class, improvisation, Dalcroze, conducting, ensemble skills, and fun! Afternoons will include enrichment classes and field trips (ex. MET Instrument Collection, Luthier Shop, etc).


Students should be playing at level late Suzuki book 1 and up (or NYSMA level 1 and up). Students playing at this level who are 7 and wish to attend the workshop should ask their teacher to send a recommendation to Julianne Carney-Chung regarding their maturity level.
Students not currently in the BKCM Suzuki program should (choose one):

1. Ask their SAA registered Suzuki teacher to send recommendation letter

2. Those studying with traditional teachers may either meet with Director for audition or send a recording of a polished piece
Campers bring their own lunch and snack each day.

  • 8:30 – 9 AM Drop Off
  • 9:00 – 10:00 AM Dalcroze
  • 10:10 – 11:10 AM: Masterclass (semi-private lesson)
  • 11:15 – 12:15 PM: Ensemble/Improvising
  • 12:15 – 1 PM Lunch
  • 1pm – 4pm: Music Related Field Trip or Music Enrichment activity /Friday: Rehearsal and Final Showcase
