In celebration of World Refugee Day, we are honored to partner with Spaceworks and refugee resettlement agencies Catholic Charities of NY, CAMBA, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Refugee and Immigrant Fund (RIF), to host an evening of music, food, and community for their clients and NYC neighbors.

Join us in welcoming and celebrating our refugee neighbors! Event schedule:

6:00-8:00 PM Family Fun

  • Zumba dance-along
  • Live music and percussion demonstration
  • Face-painting
  • Kids’ crafts & activities, including tapestry-making with Children’s Museum of the Arts
  • Pizza

8:30-11:00 PM Concert & Pot-Luck Dinner

  • Performances by musicians from Syria, Ukraine, Nepal, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and all over the world
  • Pot-luck dinner (PLEASE BRING A DISH TO SHARE!)
  • Snacks provided by Emma’s Torch, Hot Bread Kitchen, Eat Offbeat
  • Beer & wine
  • Art gallery room & experiential percussion room
  • Info booths & family resources

The event is FREE and open to the public, and any donations will benefit the BKCM New Overtures Fellowship, which aims to provide professional development for refugees, immigrants, and asylees seeking careers in music education in New York City.
