From: Trinidad and Tobago
My inspiration: My original inspiration was Death Cab for Cutie and Bloc Party. They both released monster albums around the same time and I found myself wanting to get into that style of guitar based indie rock. I learned enough to eventually find myself in a great band playing shows at or close to their level. That experience made me realize that my passion wasn’t only to be in a band. I have a passion for learning the instrument now and it’s way healthier for me.
Education: Private lessons and self-taught
I play and teach: Guitar
My other artistic/musical endeavors: Mon Repos
Personal Teaching Statement: As a guitar teacher, I believe patience is paramount whether learning theory or just becoming comfortable enough to learn and play your favorite songs. I practice and attempt to pass on the habit of active listening which involves intense focus on everything your body is doing while practicing so that no matter the venue, you will be able to perform in a relaxed, comfortable state.
Biography: Originally from Trinidad and now Brooklyn-based, I am a well-traveled performer who has played sold-out shows throughout the US, UK and Europe as a touring member of the band Lewis Del Mar. I have lent my talents to various artists within a plethora of disciplines from live theater accompaniment, to film and TV scores.
