Marie is a board certified music therapist and licensed creative arts therapist born and raised in NYC. She is an adjunct faculty member at New York University and the clinical coordinator for BKCM’s music therapy program. Relationship and collaboration have always been at the root of her love for music which began in early childhood, singing and making music at home with family. These experiences started her on the path to music therapy, a clinical practice that emphasizes music as a potent medium for supporting emotional expression, connection and self-actualization.
After receiving her BA in English at UMass-Amherst, Marie briefly explored performance and songwriting as a self-taught guitarist and vocalist in various NYC venues while also working in the non-profit education field. Her journey as a music therapist began after observing and volunteering at BKCM. Inspired to reimagine the role of music in her own life and its potential to support connection and social-emotional growth, Marie obtained her MA in music therapy from NYU. Since then, Marie has continued to develop a strengths-based, holistic therapeutic approach, learning and growing alongside the neurodiverse children and adults she is privileged to work with.
