Buoy the Brooklyn Mermaid is an operatic singing siren bringing music and magic to dry land. With soaring vocals, oceanic whimsy, and a love for the fintastic, Buoy invites audiences of all ages to dive into adventures where opera meets imagination. Created and performed by Brooklyn artist Samantha Nahra, Buoy blends classical singing with storytelling to make opera fun!

Buoy the Brooklyn Mermaid was named a NYC DOT Public Realm Programming Partner for 2026–2027. In 2025, she debuted her original show Briny Bops at the Coney Island Makers Faire, performed in The Brides Sideshow, and was recognized as a Save Coney Island Rising Star Micro-Grant recipient. In 2026, she added operatic sparkle to Maxim’s Drag Race Watch Party and premiered her show Arias of the Abyss with Columbia Operatic Laboratory at the Richland Public Library.

Today, Buoy continues to enchant audiences with Buoy’s Briny Bops, Arias of the Abyss, and magical Mermaid Story Times where audiences are welcomed into a world of music, imagination, and sea-sprinkled wonder.
