Description
Brass ensemble is for students who play trombone, trumpet, french horn or tuba and have experience reading and performing. Playing in an ensemble is essential for all brass students as it develops students’ breath support, tone production and intonation. Blending your sound with other brass musicians supports all aspects of proper brass technique. Students work on intermediate brass repertoire including classical, pop and jazz selections.
Students who join the brass ensemble should be able to play one major scale and have some experience reading basic notes and rhythms. To determine if you are ready for the brass ensemble please contact the community music school administrative team at cmsadmin@bkcm.org or speak to your private lesson teacher.
Students in the brass ensemble are encouraged to join the Brooklyn Band Academy at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
