Description

Adult students who are completely new to Jazz or want to refresh their understanding of the basics of jazz are welcome to join this intro class. Students explore the basic modes for improvising, gain familiarity with the blues form, and develop an understanding of how to improvise over chord changes. Students explore jazz swing feel and phrasing and how each instrument functions in a group.

This class is ideal for students who have experience on their instrument and can play at an intermediate level. Students who take this intro level class may have the opportunity to join our adult jazz ensembles, depending on instrument and availability in the class.
