Description
Students begin their journey with the violin in a cheerful group setting which integrates elements of improvisation and composition as well as essential musicianship skills such as sight reading, ear training and singing. Students learn how to hold the violin, pluck individual strings and how to use the bow with the right hand. Students also learn to identify strings, read basic rhythmic notation and begin to identify notes on the staff.
Caregivers are encouraged to attend in part each week and are provided with the resources and tools to help their child practice at home. At the end of each term, students perform in a group recital, building confidence and performance skills.
*Students are required to rent a violin for this class. On the first day of class, students are sized for the violin, assuring a proper fit before renting an instrument. Information about violin rentals will be provided at the beginning of the school year. Recommended violin for purchase, Book for purchase.
