Cole Quest and The City Pickers are a high-spirited bluegrass band led by dobro player and singer Cole Quest, grandson of folk legend Woody Guthrie. Hailing from New York City, the band blends traditional bluegrass roots with inventive arrangements and original songwriting, bringing a fresh voice to the genre while honoring its past.
Their EP Self [En]Titled (Omnivore Recordings, 2021), produced with Grammy-winning talent including Steve Rosenthal, followed a well-received 2017 debut album recorded at NYC’s Magic Shop. They are currently set to release a new album this summer on Jalopy Records. The City Pickers have shared stages with top acts like Billy Strings, Sierra Hull, Della Mae, The Brothers Comatose, and Paula Cole, and have been featured in The Bluegrass Situation, Bluegrass Today, Folk Alley, WFUV, and more.
With tight harmonies, driving rhythms, and a touch of dry humor, Cole Quest and The City Pickers connect with audiences through songs steeped in real life—offering a foot-stomping, heartfelt experience that feels both familiar and brand new.
