Gideon Forbes is a saxophonist, nay player, composer, and improviser in Brooklyn, New York. An in-demand collaborator in the NYC Arabic and creative music scenes, he is currently a member of the New York Arabic Orchestra, Big Beat Big Band, Takht al-Nagham, The Brooklyn Nomads, and Habibi Gün. Gideon co-leads Orchestra Farha and the chordess jazz quartet Nortonk, which released its eponymous debut album on Biophilia Records in May 2021. Gideon holds a master’s degree from William Paterson University in Jazz Arranging & Composition. He has taught workshops around the United States and abroad. In July 2018 Gideon taught at the Edward Said National Conservatory in Ramallah, Palestine, sponsored by the Muna & Basem Hishmeh Foundation.
