Marius Duboule is a guitarist, composer, and improviser originally from Switzerland and currently based in New York. His work is informed by a sensitive musicality and collaborative spirit which he brings to a diverse range of projects.
After moving to New York in 2012, Marius began working with some of the city’s most exciting musicians. His projects include a trio with Tony Malaby and Billy Mintz and the improvising quartet Zero Point featuring multi-instrumentalist Daniel Carter, with whom Marius recorded the critically acclaimed Thoughts Become Matter in 2017. Marius’ current focus is his quartet featuring Ohad Talmor, Thomas Morgan, and Kenny Wollesen, which performs Marius’ original music and understated deconstructions of the jazz tradition.
Marius has also collaborated extensively with vocalist Annie Chen, performing with her band in New York and China and producing the albums Secret Treetop (2018) and Guardians (2023), the latter also featuring his arrangements.
In addition to performing, Marius works as a sound engineer, mentored by Grammy-winning producer Dave Darlington, and recently joined the guitar faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
