Philippe Derimay is an accomplished finance leader with deep experience in quantitative development, risk management, and strategic technology initiatives in the investment industry. He currently serves in senior leadership at Citadel, where he has driven impactful projects to enhance risk and analytics platforms and foster cross-functional collaboration across complex business units. Prior to joining Citadel, Philippe built his career with significant roles at top financial institutions, including tenures at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, where he focused on quantitative strategy and development. His professional journey reflects a commitment to innovative problem-solving, thoughtful governance, and long-term strategic thinking—skills he is eager to bring to board service in support of a thriving music education community.
Philippe’s connection to music and his community runs deep. He began playing piano at age six and, as an adult, has recently rekindled that passion by taking classical lessons alongside his oldest daughter, Olivia, at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM), an experience that has strengthened both his musical appreciation and his belief in the transformative power of arts education. A longtime resident of Park Slope for over 13 years, Philippe is deeply invested in the cultural life of Brooklyn and in supporting opportunities that inspire creativity and lifelong learning. Outside of work and family life, he is also an active climber, finding balance and challenge on the rock and in life.
Why BKCM?
“Brooklyn Conservatory of Music represents what music education can be at its best: rigorous, welcoming, and deeply rooted in community. Returning to classical piano as an adult at BKCM—alongside my daughter—has reminded me how fulfilling it is to learn and practice music. The experience has been meaningful not only as a musician, but as a parent witnessing how music builds confidence in Olivia.”
