Dr. Vivek Menon started playing violin at the age of three. He has extensive performance experience in several styles of music and has worked with notable artists such as Jennifer Koh, Ray Chen, Donald Weilerstein, Graham Haynes, Daniel Carter, Marc Edwards, Daedelus, and members of the Kronos, Emerson, Orion, and JACK string quartets. He is a founding member and violinist of free improvised ensemble Dot Iso as well as a core member of avant-garde quintet orchiddBB. 

Vivek has appeared onstage at notable venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Roulette Intermedium, The Jazz Gallery, 54 Below, Downtown Music Gallery, and Dolby Theater.

In addition to teaching at BKCM, Vivek is on faculty at Harlem School of the Arts. Vivek holds a doctorate degree from Stony Brook University, where he studied with Emerson Quartet violinist Phil Setzer. He holds a master’s degree from Mannes School of Music and a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill.
