Annie Chen Guardians is a 2022-born jazz and improvised music septet featuring top-tier musicians from diverse backgrounds, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Swiss, American.
Guardians II – The Hidden Ministry is the second installment in a body of work dedicated to exploring Chinese traditional music, experimental improvisation, and thematic narratives centered on climate change and humanity’s relationship with nature. Featuring new compositions and arrangements by vocalist/composer Annie Chen, this new work investigates the intimate and often unseen lives of mountain birds, using the melodies of ancient Chinese mountain songs as a foundation for each composition. Join us in exploring the global perspectives woven into the fabric of Annie Chen Guardians’ explosive sound – a powerful narrative on climate change and cultural unity.
