About Alexander Liu

Alexander Liu, 14, is a piano student at Juilliard Pre-College, where he studies under pianist Orli Shaham. He is a 2024–2026 Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, a 2025–2026 Fellow of the Artemisia Foundation, and a 2025–2026 full-scholarship recipient of the Chopin Foundation of the United States. Alexander has been awarded full scholarships to Morningside Music Bridge (2024), the Aspen Music Festival (2025), and Musikfestspiele Saar in Germany (2025), and was invited to participate in
a collaborative chamber music project at Yellow Barn (2025).

As a soloist, Alexander has appeared with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA, Sound Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, and Midwest Young Artists Orchestra, performing at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Weill Recital Hall, New York Town Hall, the National Arts Club, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, and on the Great Wall of China in Beijing.

Liu last performed with the BCCO in 2024, when he was the piano soloist for Mozart’s Piano Concert #1 – watch a video of his performance here!

About the BCCO

The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO) is a passionate and diverse group of dedicated amateur and professional musicians who perform the great masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire, from Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky to contemporary works by living composers. Now in its 24th season, the BCCO’s members feel more keenly than ever the profound joys of playing and sharing some of the world’s most beautiful music. The 72-member ensemble is composed of players from all walks of life, from middle-school art teachers to law professors and local baristas. Open by audition to adult orchestral musicians who play at an advanced level, the BCCO presents four to six concerts for the community throughout the year, including a popular family concert at the Brooklyn Museum.
