Every year, BKCM curates more than a dozen Festival Stages with free music, all over Park Slope. This year, we’re also inviting anyone in the neighborhood who’d like to play music outside their place of residence or host other musicians during the festival to do so – and be included on a map of Community Stages that 7,000+ festival attendees can explore!

After you fill in the Application Form above, approved Community Stages will be added to a digital map of stages that will be BKCM’s 20,000-person mailing list in late April, and a link to the Community Stage map will be included on printed materials during the festival itself!

BKCM is not able to provide any gear or tech support to Community Stages, so community stage hosts will need to be able to supply the necessary amplification themselves.

While artists booked by BKCM for our official Festival Stages are compensated, hosting or performing at a Community Stage is on a volunteer basis. The spirit of the Community Stages is inspired by events like Porchfest — it’s a chance to get out there on a (hopefully) beautiful spring day and play your music as hundreds of people drift by and explore the festival.

The Open Stages festival typically takes place between 3rd Street and Flatbush Ave in Park Slope (between Prospect Park West and 5th Ave). You can still apply if you are outside this radius, but note that there may be fewer festival-goers if you are far outside it. You can view last year’s map here.

At this moment, BKCM is unable to guarantee connections between stages and artists on our Community Stages, but we’d still love to hear about your music – please send information to events@bkcm.org.

We are actively programming the route and stages for Open Stages this spring. Although we can’t guarantee we will be able to connect you with musicians, feel free to submit information about your stage and location to events@bkcm.org, in case it fits into the day’s programming.
