Description
Dive into the blues, funk and soul from the earliest blues pioneers to the sounds and styles that influenced our collective groove vocabulary. Instrumentalists and singers alike learn forms, scales, lyrics and performance styles through a repertoire that ranges from the early blues pioneers through soul and funk hits of the ‘60s and ‘70s, studying regional styles in their historical context. All instruments and voices are welcome.
The blues, funk and soul is not hard to learn but takes a lifetime to learn. Anyone with basic proficiency on their instrument can learn it quickly! The band performs once each semester and at community events and gatherings throughout the year.
