String Ensemble – Perfect for the beginning to intermediate reader with at least three years of study on their instrument, this intro-level Youth Orchestra teaches the basics of orchestral skills. Students build confidence and have fun playing in harmony, following a conductor, and reading simple and exciting melodies and rhythms. The goal is for every student to feel successful and inspired. This class is suitable for students with any level of experience, from no prior orchestral experience to several years of youth orchestra participation. Students may request an audition with Suzuki ensembles coordinator Aaron van Heyningen by emailing Aaron.VanHeyningen@bkcm.org.

String Orchestra – Our intermediate Youth Orchestra perfect for students with at least 5-6 years of study on their instrument, who have had several years of experience playing in an orchestral or chamber ensemble. Students perform a variety of repertoire from standard string orchestral pieces to classical, pop and improvisation. Students expand their sight-reading skills, while developing the ability to follow a conductor and play together. Students are encouraged to practice ensemble repertoire with their private lesson teacher.

Concert Band – Make a joyous large-ensemble sound in our Concert Band program (formerly known as Brooklyn Band Academy)! The program is open to saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion students who are currently enrolled in a school band or enrolled in private lessons. Students learn an expansive repertoire.
