School’s out! Let’s keep the music going!
Brass, winds and percussion combine in the Brooklyn Band Academy to make a joyous large ensemble sound. Open to students who play saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion, the Brooklyn Band Academy is ideal for students who are currently enrolled in a band program or private lessons with at least one year of experience. Students perform a wide variety of repertoire that includes standard wind band selections, pop, jazz and music from around the globe. Each day the students participate in a concert band, small wind ensembles and semi-private lessons. Throughout the week they also attend workshops on improvisation, composition and conducting.
How to Register
The deadline to apply for Brooklyn Band Academy Camp is June 15. Students who would like to apply after June 15th should email summercamp@bkcm.org.
- Step 1. Fill out the Brooklyn Band Academy Registration Form.
- Step 2. Prepare for your audition using the materials below. Please note that auditions are required.*
- Step 3. Look for an email from the Summer Camp Administrative Team.
*Students registered for the 2024-2025 Brooklyn Band Academy program at BKCM are not required to audition but must fill out the interest form.

- 9:00 – 10:00 – Concert Band Practice #1
- 10:00 – 11:00 – Semi-Private Lessons
- 11:15 – 12:00 – Ensembles and Chamber Groups
- 12:00 – 12:30 PM – Lunch Break
- 12:30 – 2:00 PM – Conducting, Improvisation, Composition Classes
- 2:00 – 3:00 – Concert Band Practice #2
*Subject to change. On the final day of camp, July 25th, there will be a showcase at 2 PM in the BKCM Concert Hall.

BKCM Summer Policies
- There are no refunds or credits for private lessons, camps or summer programs.
- All registrations for summer programs and camps are final and there are no withdrawals.
