Description

Brass, Winds and Percussion combine to make a joyous large ensemble sound. Open to students who play saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion, the Brooklyn Band Academy is open to all students who are currently enrolled in a band program or private lessons with at least one year of experience. Students experience a wide variety of repertoire that includes standard wind band selections and music from around the globe.  This program supports students in building instrumental skills such as rhythmic accuracy, pitch and tone production.  

For New students, an audition is required to join the Brooklyn Band Academy. To sign up for an audition please contact the CMS administrative team at cmsadmin@bkcm.org. Students who join the Brooklyn Band Academy should be able to play one major scale and have some experience reading basic notes and rhythms. Returning students may call the registration team at 708-622-3300 to register.

A video audition is required for this program. If you have any questions please contact cmsadmin@bkcm.org for more information. 

Audition requirements:

  1. 1 Major Scale
  2. 16 measures (not including rests) of any piece you have recently played

Optional Small Instrumental Ensembles

Students in the Brooklyn Band Academy are also welcome to join one of our fabulous small instrumental ensembles. We offer Flute Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble on Saturdays from 2:15 – 3:15 before the Brooklyn Band Academy. Please contact the CMS administration team at cmsadmin@bkcm.org or your private lesson teacher to determine if you are ready for our small ensemble.
