Brass, Winds and Percussion combine in the Brooklyn Band Academy to make a joyous large ensemble sound. Open to students who play saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion, the Brooklyn Band Academy is open to all students who are currently enrolled in a band program or private lessons with at least one year of experience. Students experience a wide variety of repertoire that includes standard wind band selections, pop, jazz and music from around the globe. 

Students who join the Brooklyn Band Academy should be able to play one major scale and have some experience reading basic notes and rhythms. The Brooklyn Band Academy meets for 20 rehearsals in the BKCM concert hall on Saturdays from 3:30 – 5:00 and performs twice throughout the school year. 

Auditions will take place on September 9th from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. To sign up for an audition please contact the CMS administrative team at cmsadmin@bkcm.org. If you cannot make the audition date, please contact us and we will arrange an alternate date.

Optional Small Instrumental Ensembles

Students in the Brooklyn Band Academy are also welcome to join one of our fabulous small instrumental ensembles. We offer Flute Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble on Saturdays from 2:30 – 3:30 before the Brooklyn Band Academy. Please contact the CMS administration team at cmsadmin@bkcm.org or your private lesson teacher to determine if you are ready for our small ensemble.
