Open To: Students who have prior experience on your instrument, open to Piano, Bass, Guitar, Horns, Strings and Voice. No experience in Jazz is required.

This invigorating summer session is open to intermediate to advanced level string, woodwind, brass, piano and drum/percussion players as well as voice, ages 18+ who are looking to expand their jazz knowledge and improvisational skills.
Taught by local professional jazz musician, saxophonist, pianist and drummer Peter Apfelbaum as well as guest jazz artists from the local NYC jazz community, students will hone their improvisation skills and brush up on their knowledge of chord progressions and rhythms of classic jazz repertoire, blues forms and standards from the great American songbook. This intensive ends the week with a public performance at the BKCM Concert Hall.
How to Register
The deadline to apply for Jazz Instrumental Lab Intensive is June 15th. Students who would like to apply after June 15th, please email summercamp@bkcm.org.

- Step 2. Prepare for your audition using the materials below. Please note that auditions are required.*
- Step 3. Look for an email from the Summer Administrative Team
*Jazz Instrumental Lab students registered for the ‘Fall 24 and/or Spring ’25 program at BKCM are not required to audition but must fill out the interest form.
