Brass & Woodwind Private Lessons
Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, and Tuba
Brass and woodwind lessons are generally suitable for students ages 10 and up. Students develop their sound by studying breath control, articulation and building a healthy embouchure. We encourage brass and wind students to take advantage of our plentiful ensemble offerings geared towards developing musicality and performance experience. This program also provides support to students who are enrolled in a school band program or are looking to audition for a specialized music school.

How To Register
All private lesson registrations must be completed by phone or in-person. To schedule a trial lesson, re-enroll, or get help finding the right instructor, please call the registration desk at 718-622-3300.

Brass & Woodwind Department Resources
Renting or Purchasing an Instrument
It’s important to have a good working instrument that is of high quality. Student models are fine for beginners, although we recommend name brand instruments such as Yamaha, Bach, Eastman or Jupiter. If you have specific questions about where to find a quality instrument, please send an email to pablo.masis@bkcm.org. Here is a resource for renting instruments suitable for beginners through advanced. To purchase brass and woodwinds in person we recommend Josh Landress Brass, Dillon’s Music (NJ) and NYC Woodwind.
Joining an Ensemble
We have lots of ensembles to choose from as brass and wind students at BKCM. Check out all of our Brass, Woodwind and Flute ensembles for students ages 10-16 and our Jazz and Chamber Programs for ages 9 to adult.
All Private Lesson Offerings:
Private music lessons are a core learning experience at BKCM, available for every major instrument including voice. Drawing from our diverse, world-class faculty, we match each student to a teacher whose approach fits their learning style and musical goals. No audition or experience is required to begin private music lessons.
